Teenagers In Tokyo

Our old friends at Back Yard Recordings asked us to art direct and design the Teenagers In Tokyo first album, Sacrifice. Determined to steer away from obvious dark and emotional connotations of sacrifice we instead concentrated on something more spiritual and surreal. The small statuette on the cover is of native American origin. Although the sculpture was found at a sacrificial site surrounded by bones its form is calming and positive, it is both an embrace and a farewell, a timeless moment. We coupled this image with that of obsolete 1960’s communications machinery, comparing the 500 year old with the 50 year old / the electrically charged with the emotionally charged.
