Nasan Tur’s work often reflects political ideologies, subliminal messages, and the symbols of power and dissent. For our design for “At Your Own ___.” we blew up the scanned grain in this found image to intentionally ‘golf-ball’ it when reprinted. The mysterious image evoked American advertising, consumer dreams, airlines, banks and the equally mysterious unfinished title allowed for multiple interpretations. The title was set Neue Haas Grotesk, a typeface that later was renamed and became the corporate typeface of corporate America – Helvetica. The design of the reverse of the card imitates that of a post card, with and written and foil blocked after party details, to further enhance this reference to travel and optimism.
