The self published magazine menswear establishment Hostem, takes on a different mans name and personality for each issue. We art directed and designed the second protest themed issue, and called him Hector.
We increased the size, doubling it from its previous incarnation and added the removable sticker as a way of neatly containing all publication info and allowing the reader to remove it leaving the full bleed cover image.
Described as “an erudite activist concerned with politics, humanities and parity” our treatment of Hector was also about big statements like the use of one formal but characterful typeface, that reads well as body copy and reveals its spiky character when blown up for full page feature titles. To connect to the previous differently titled issue Sebastian, celebrate Hector and add a gesture of anarchy to the cover, we hand scribbled out the Sebastian logotype on the cover sticker with a red marker on each of the 2500 copies.
