Creative Cuts

The Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands approached us to produce a document to contain research they had commissioned and collated to promote good practice in the creative industries. Although promoting cost effective practice, the booklet was to be distributed to Government Ministers and cultural/creative institutions and so needed to be creatively engaging and high-end whilst not appearing to be excessively luxurious. We turned this challenge into our format and cover concept. We named the book ‘Creative Cuts’ and bound it in a leather textured card finished with navy blue foiled type, this cover was then ‘cut back’ in half to reflect the content within. We used Replica throughout the book, a modern, European font with a simple economy, as well as bevelled cuts to the end strokes,
(and) in a navy and orange colour palette.
