As part of our Music Inspired Art campaign with Beck’s we proposed the idea of a Live Billboard. Two were commissioned with us travelling to Birmingham’s Bull Ring and Jamie Julien Brown providing a huge spray painted design in London that was aided by abseiling.
The proposal was centred on the idea of the billboards being one-off and their making a performance, we took the opportunity for our billboard to be dynamic and not limited to 2D. Our design was inspired by carwash shimmer signs and conceived around the preprinted pack shot of the bottle. We used a set of specially coloured matt and metallic CDR’s in their thousands to create an image of a hand grasping the Beck’s bottle. The printed advert had prefixed pegs attached that the CD’s slotted onto and allowed for movement in gentle winds creating a shimming effect. The work was documented in film and stills ran over two days in national press.
