YCN LIVE
Interactive Audio Visual Installation

YCN asked us to come up with a special one-off live piece of work for the launch night party of YCN LIVE, an international series of events showcasing creative talent. We collaborated with interactive designer David Benqué to design a custom interactive VJ system and built a large screen, from the type ‘LIVE’, for our performance at the Village Underground space in East London.

AUDIO: Live sound input from our DJ set was converted into data to manipulate the movement and size of the projected 3D objects: a cube, a sphere, a prism and the letters Y, C and N. (line break here)
VISUAL: Sets of ‘Test Cards’ made with black and white patterns were designed to be played with in front of a camera. The live input from the camera was fed through a laptop and manipulated by our custom-built program to create geometric patterns of video which react in real time. The result was projection mapped onto our screen that hung high above the crowds.
